Global Pulse, the American Medical Student Association's
worldwide student-run international health journal, believes student
efforts in global health deserve recognition and discussion for their
potential impact on society. Thus, we would like to introduce our new
feature on student leadership. This new feature will highlight the
service of an individual or a small group of students who are making a
significant contribution to the progress and development of
international health. We would like to give you the opportunity to
nominate a student (or a group of a few student leaders of an
organization) in the field of global health that will be featured in
the upcoming issue for their efforts.
All leadership activities focused on global health are eligible
- working in an organization that deals with international health
issues, traveling to do clinical outreach abroad, researching about
health outcomes abroad, educating others about international health
conditions, or raising funds for those affected by poor health abroad.
Whatever the activity, Global Pulse wants to recognize significant, health-based contributions in response to global health issues.
The selection committee will consist of editors of Global Pulse.
Each nominee will be judged on predetermined criteria including, but
not limited to: extent and impact of contribution to the local and
international community, relevance of service to journal theme,
uniqueness of contribution and the degree of initiative demonstrated by
the nominated individuals.
Please send your nominations to submissions@globalpulsejournal.com.
Nominations should be submitted in the following format:
- Put the name of the individual you are nominating in the email message subject line. (Self nominations are welcome).
- Please include in the body of your message an explanation
(about 200-500 words) of the work the individual(s) has done and how it
relates to global health.
- Please state in the body of your message where to find
additional information regarding the organization and work of the
individual(s) you are nominating.
- Relevant supplemental materials are welcome.
- Selected finalist will be invited to present additional information via interview.
Self-nominations are welcome. Eligible nominees include students who
are an active part of the health community, including but not limited
to those in medical, nursing, pharmacy and other allied health
profession schools. All questions about nominations should be directed
to jbracero@globalpulsejournal.com
