Jared D. Ament, is a medical student at the Medical School for International Health, a collaborative program between Ben-Gurion University, Israel and Columbia University, New York. He also holds a seat on the Board of Trustees as AMSA's International Trustee. Currently, he is doing some work for Harvard's Center of Public Health and Surgery. Jared has done extensive healthcare work abroad and in January 2007 will be going to Ethiopia. He joined Global Pulse in 2004.
After graduating summa cum laude from Rice University with a BA in both Sociology and Psychology, Tanvir pursued his education as one of the youngest Fulbright Scholars to the U.K. He became the first American to receive a MSc in Social Epidemiology from the University College of London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and was honored as the first person to earn Highest Honors & Distinction in his program. While in London, Tanvir served on the UK Commissioner's panel on Contemporary Muslim Issues alongside the UK Attorney General. Tanvir is currently a medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. Tanvir serves as the Student Chair of the Socioeconomics Committee for both the Harris County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. His interests in global health include devising self-sustaining nutritional programs in Honduras and increasing health education/access to women in South Asia. He joined Global Pulse in 2004.
Julio Bracero is a medical student at Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico and plans to pursue a career in pediatrics. He has traveled extensively through El Salvador and has an interest in primary care, human rights and women's health care issues. Previously, he served as AMSA's National Primary Care Week co-coordinator for 2003 and 2004. He joined Global Pulse in 2004.
Preeti Kaur Rajpal studies medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and is interested in health and human rights issues. Recently she worked on HIV issues in India, investigating healthcare worker discrimination. She joined Global Pulse in 2006.
Benjamin Powers is a medical student at Wayne State University. He received his BA in anthropology and Asian studies from the University of Michigan. He has conducted fieldwork on social structural HIV risk in rural China and was a co-author of the UN Millennium Project Task Force on Tuberculosis Country Case Studies. He joined Global Pulse in 2006.
Aisha Shaheen is a medical student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to attending medical school she received her Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the University of Southern California. Aisha plans to pursue a career in surgery while also serving in an administrative capacity at an academic institution. She joined Global Pulse in 2006.
Tanyaporn Wansom is a medical student at the University of Michigan. After college, Tanyaporn spent a year in Bangkok as a Fulbright scholar engaged in HIV/AIDS counseling and advocacy. She also served on AMSA's Global Health Action Committee as the Global HIV/AIDS Coordinator and the Global Health PLI Coordinator. Currently, Tanyaporn is a Fogarty Ellison Overseas Fellow, working with HIV + IV drug users in Thailand. She joined Global Pulse in 2004.
Charles is a medical student at University of Washington. He received his MPH from Emory University and then worked in Egypt, Haiti and Fiji on a variety of different diseases. His interests include primary care and a range of international health topics. He joined Global Pulse in 2006.
